Office of Systems Management
The Office of
Systems Management consists of 3 operational groups; Applications, Operations, and GIS:
The Applications group designs, programs, and maintains many of
the core BOCC systems, the website, Online Permitting, GIS functions and many others. They are
currently working on web to integrate Divisions and to extend GIS functionality to the Public
and other Government users.
The Operations section provides the necessary support for the
computer, server, and network operations for the Board. We support nearly 500 desktop computers
and 22 servers spread across more than 20 locations with a staff of 6 full time people. Staff
provides phone-based and onsite technical support to Board staff as well as provide backups and
disaster recovery support of data and other technical resources.
Cooperation with other constitutional officers is facilitated via a high speed fiber optic ring
which we manage. This provides a stable and redundant connection between many larger government
offices. This reduces over-all cost to the county by consolidating network communications on a
single network rather than many separately purchased by each office.
Most of the internal phone systems at the BOCC as well as other government offices is provided
through this office. This provides a unified system for conferencing, voicemail, and support.
The GIS group is currently building the BOCC's GIS system, with
completion expected around May of 2008. This system was designed to be an Enterprise-wide system
and will be used by all the BOCC operations, and also the Sheriff, Emergency Management, 9-1-1,
the School Board and others.
